Dancing doctor wants to send a message of optimism

(APRIL 3, 2020) The coronavirus and the COVID-19 disease cause a lot of stress. People worry about their health. They worry about their jobs. They worry about their families.

A doctor at Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) understands the stress. His name is Dr. Jason Campbell. He sees it every day at work. However, he believes optimism will help. Optimism is a positive feeling. In other words, Dr. Campbell believes things will get better. And he wants others to feel that way, too.

So Dr. Campbell makes videos. He posts the videos on TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram. In the videos, he dances with coworkers at the hospital. The videos are fun, and Dr. Campbell hopes the videos make people smile and feel better. In the videos, he also demonstrates health tips, such as foot shaking instead of hand shaking, as well as social distancing.

"We've got to get through this with physical health, with mental health, and dancing will do that," said Dr. Campbell in an interview with KGW TV station. "We're all in this together."
