(FEBRUARY 28, 2020) A person in Oregon tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the Oregon Health Authority.
The person lives in Washington County and works at Forest Hills Elementary School in Lake Oswego. The school will be closed through early next week for cleaning. They will notify employees and students.
The federal government must verify the positive test result. Health officials say the patient did not travel. Instead, the disease spread by "community contact."
The patient is an adult. The person first had symptoms February 19. Now the patient is at Kaiser Permanente Westside Medical Center in Hillsboro. State officials have not yet released any other details about the person.
“We’ve been expecting this and we are prepared for it,” said Patrick Allen. He is the director of the Oregon Health Authority.
