(FEBRUARY 22, 2020) The bald eagle is a bird. It is also a symbol of the United States. It is our national bird.
Many bald eagles spend the winter in Southern Oregon. The birds live there between November and March. They roost (sleep) in the Bear Valley National Wildlife Refuge. (A refuge is a safe place for animals.) They look for food at Lower Klamath and Tule Lake refuges in Northern California.
Bald eagles are not bald. They have brown feathers on their bodies. They have white feathers on their heads and tails.
