Yes, Portland traffic is getting worse

(FEBRUARY 1, 2020) Does traffic in Portland seem worse than ever? That is because it is worse. At least, that's what TomTom says.

TomTom is a company that makes GPS services. It shares information about traffic in different cities. This is what its website says about traffic in Portland in 2019:

    • Portland traffic congestion increased 2% from 2018 to 2019.
    • What day had the least traffic in 2019? December 25.
    • What day had the most traffic in 2019? December 19.
    • What day of the week had the worst rush hour? Thursdays, 5pm-6pm

Rush hours are the busiest times in the mornings and evenings when workers are traveling to and from work, and students are traveling to and from school. It takes longer to drive from place to place during rush hour. For example, a regular trip of 30 minutes will take 41 minutes during morning rush hour and 47 minutes during evening rush hour.

The good news? There are 188 other cities in the world that have worse traffic congestion than Portland.
