Dogs calm airport visitors during the busiest travel days of the year

(NOVEMBER 22, 2019) People often travel around holidays. In fact, the Sunday after Thanksgiving is usually the busiest travel day in the United States. But that is not true in Portland. Here, the busiest travel day will probably be the Friday before Thanksgiving (November 22).

PDX is the international code for the Portland airport. PDX expects many travelers before and after the Thursday holiday. The airport predicts:

      • Friday, November 22: 56,000 travelers
      • Wednesday, November 27: 55,200 travelers
      • Sunday, December 1: 50,300 travelers

The airport says it expects a total of more than a half million (500,000+) travelers between November 22 and December 2.

Does that sound stressful? Then you might be happy to hear about a new canine therapy program -- especially if you love dogs. The airport is working with Dove Lewis Animal Hospital. Dove Lewis will bring dogs to the airport. Travelers will be able to interact with the dogs while they wait for their flights.
