Can you use fireworks on July 4?

(JUNE 28, 2019) July 4 is Independence Day. It is the birthday of the United States of America. The country is 243 years old in 2019.

We celebrate the holiday in different ways. Cities have parades. Families have picnics. Friends have fun.

Fireworks are popular, too. They explode. They make a loud noise and bright colors. Sometimes there is music, too.

Fireworks are dangerous. They can start fires. So people need a permit for fireworks in Oregon. A permit is a license from the government.

People need a permit for:

  • bottle rockets
  • firecrackers
  • Roman candles

People do not need a permit for:

  • sparklers
  • ground spinners
  • little poppers
