Electric scooters return to Portland streets

(APRIL 26, 2019) Portland tested electric scooters last year. Now scooters are here again. 2,500 scooters will be in Portland soon. There will be 9,000-15,000 by January.

Some people think scooters are fun and easy to use. 62% of people like them. Scooters are cleaner than cars, they say.

Other people do not like them. Some people say the scooters are not safe. Scooters sometimes block sidewalks.

Riders can drive only on streets. Riders must use helmets. Riders cannot leave the scooters in some places, such as Waterfront Park in downtown Portland.
