(MARCH 19, 2019) The weather is changing. Spring is coming. So are the gray whales.
Gray whales live in the ocean near Alaska in the summer. They live in the ocean near Baja, Mexico in the winter. Every spring and every fall, nearly 20,000 gray whales pass the Oregon coast as they move from one home to the other.
Oregon Parks and Recreation Department has a special event from March 23 to March 31. It is called Spring Whale Watch Week. There will be volunteers at 24 whale watching locations along the Oregon coast. The volunteers will offer information about the gray whales, and they will help visitors spot them in the water.
