MIRROR, formerly known as the Gallery, is Plymouth College of Art’s own dedicated public exhibition space. Throughout the year, a programme of shows and other events brings some of the world’s most exciting artists and creative practitioners to the College: in addition to helping to put Plymouth on the arts map, it gives you a fantastic opportunity to learn from leaders in their fields.
MIRROR’s exhibition programme is shaped by the curriculum, with focus given to art, design and digital media, reflecting the rich and diverse cultural community of the college and the city. MIRROR specialises in supporting artists at various stages of their careers, enabling them to produce new exhibitions, and offering exciting opportunities to enhance their professional practice in fresh and interesting ways.
MIRROR often works in partnership, contributing actively to strengthening and enhancing the offer of arts and culture in Plymouth.
We have showcased the work of artists including Matt Stokes (as part of We The People Are The Work), Abigail Reynolds, Brian Griffiths (as part of The British Art Show 7), Craig Fisher, BOUDICCA, Martin Parr, Albert Irvin, Timorous Beasties, Catherine Yass (as part of Walk On). Recent exhibitions have included Katie Schwab's 'A Working Building' and our own Dr Steven Paige's 'Meeting the Archive', a culmination of the practice component of the artist's PhD including new and existing work that investigates how artists are able to draw attention to the instability and heterogeneity of archives.
Please see the MIRROR website for full details of past, present and future exhibitions.
