In recent years, Plymouth College of Art has considerably developed its activity, presence and profile in European-funded partnership projects. We are proud to work alongside a number of leading creative institutions across Europe and further afield.
During 2017-2018, the college secured over £600,000 of funding from a range of EU programmes, including the European Structural and Investment Funds (European Regional Development Fund and European Social Fund), Erasmus+, INTERREG Atlantic Area and Creative Europe.
Our Projects and Partnerships team work with other areas of the College to drive innovative artistic practice, increase business-facing activity, facilitating knowledge exchange and SME support, start-up incubators, and new kinds of creative and design-led entrepreneurial interventions in youth settings.

As a small specialist art, design and media higher education institution that’s big on collaboration, partnership working and interdisciplinary practice and with the creative industries now firmly an international job market, we know the importance of connecting with creative practitioners, institutions and businesses across the globe.
Working with our partners across Europe, North America, India, China, Korea and beyond, our cultural exchanges and international projects have a significant impact on our students – improving their employment prospects, bringing international practitioners and projects into the college, creating a rich and vibrant international culture and helping to influence the way we teach.
As an innovative institution, the College is a Founding Associate of Tate Exchange, a UK Advisory Council member of the Creative Industries Federation, a member of the UKADIA, ELIA, CAA and Cumulus groups of specialist higher education institutions, a member of the Crafts Council Advisory Group, and a Steering Group member of the Cultural Learning Alliance.
Invitations to many of these groups came in the past five years, creating platforms for the college to steer national and international policies in the arts and creative education.
As the result of a growing national and international profile the College is also being invited to engage in partnership with an increasing number of European-funded projects, including STEPS (Soft Skills Training Enabling Progression and Sustainability), Made@EU and the Euranim digital skills project, alongside other partners such as: Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. A developing relationship with the British Council has in the last few years seen the College developing significant projects in India and Myanmar and also more recently in the Caucasus.
