Typically, children follow a very specific path toward reading. First, there is the fundamental phonological processing—the awareness of sounds themselves. Assigning sound to symbol-learning the ABC's This awareness builds into phonics, or the ability to decode a sound to match a letter. And those, finally, merge into full, automatic reading fluency and comprehension.
Sounds easy right? Well its actually rather complicated and super fascinating. It's all about neuroscience, white matter, early experiences, phonological possessing, interest and self control/regulation. When it comes together it's mashaAllah beautiful. They take flight and begin to read. It is a proud moment in a childs life and a real milestone. Somewhere between kindergarten and third grade most children become readers. However, know that the earlier children read the better prepared the will be for future academic success.
