Santa Sophia Year 2-6 Swimming Carnival

Event: Santa Sophia Primary Swimming Carnival 2024 (Hawkesbury Oasis)

Date: Wednesday 6th December 2023

Permission Due: Monday 6th November 2023 

Location: Hawkesbury Oasis

Transport: Students. will travel to the venue via bus at 8:15am however may be picked up from the venue at the conclusion of the days events (all students must be picked up before the last bus returning to school leaves the venue at 1:00pm)

Eligibility: Students must be turning 8 Years Old or older in 2024. Students must be able to swim 50m unaided.

Events: 50m Freestyle, 50m Backstroke, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Butterfly (If time permits 100m Freestyle & 200m Individual Medley)

What to bring: Students are to wear their sports uniform on the day. Appropriate swimwear is required (no two-piece swimwear is permitted). Students are strongly encouraged to bring their own food, drink, sunscreen and at least two towels and a plastic bag for wet clothes

IMPORTANT:

• Parents/Guardians must complete the question and declaration form included in providing consent to attend. 

• Students must be able to swim 50m unaided.

• For students not attending the carnival regular classes will be taking place at school.

Year 7-12 Swimming Carnival

Event Date: Thursday 15 December 2022

Event Location: Oasis Hawkesbury

Select swimmers from the carnival or swimmers who are competitive in time to compete at the PDSSSC swimming Carnival / selection trial which is held in March each year at SOPAC, Homebush. In 2023, the PDSSSC Swimming Championships will be held on Thursday 9 March. 

Ages for school swimming are based on the year you were born (i.e. the age you are on 31st December 2023). 

The school carnival will run events for the 50m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 50m Backstroke, 50m Butterfly & 100m Freestyle as well as house relays, novelty events and games. 

To nominate for additional events at PDSSSC, please complete the following PDSSSC Swimming Nomination Form.

To be considered of distance events (200m Form Strokes, 400m/800m/1500m Freestyle, 400m IM), please complete the form on the PDSSSC Website.

To qualify for PDSSSC Swimming Carnival, you must finish first in the 50m Back, Breast, Fly or 100m Freestyle, or in the top two for 50m Freestyle while still swimming under the qualifying time. Other students who swim under the qualifying time may be nominated, however acceptance of these nominations are at the discretion of the PDSSSC Sports Convener.
