Stage 6

VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING (VET)

Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses are recognised nationally, with students obtaining a qualification upon completion. All VET courses have been developed in conjunction with industry, are taught to industry standards and have clear links to post school destinations. Depending on the course, students may exit with a Statement of Attainment, Certificate II or Certificate III. Early commencement VET provides students the opportunity and advantage to study and complete a 2 Unit VET course for their HSC by the end of Year 12. Students can sit the HSC VET course examination at the end of Year 12 2023.

BUSINESS SERVICES

Qualification: BSB30120 Certificate III in Business

This course is for students who wish to gain nationally recognised entry level qualifications for employment in the business world, either as a long term career or in part-time or temporary positions while undertaking further study. Students will develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to function effectively in a business environment. Click here to find out more.

Construction

Qualification: CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways

This course provides students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in a range of activities and functions in a construction setting. Units within this course focus on developing the skills required to work effectively within the industry. Students also gain a White Card which allows them to access construction sites. Dance

At Penola Catholic College, we want to offer this course with CAPTIVATE Catholic Education Diocese of Parramatta as we have a Dance Studio in the CAPA space and expert teachers will come to Penola as the HUB school. This course will involve a VET credential that may be increased in Stage 6 to a VET Certificate qualification for the HSC years. It provides learning and performance opportunities for students and connects them with Australia's leading creative arts professionals and their wealth of experience and networks. Entertainment industry

Qualification: SOA CUA30415 Certificate III in Live Production and Services


The entertainment industry is a diverse industry covering a wide range of occupational areas including audio, costume, customer service, front of house, lighting, props, scenic art, sets, staging, technical operations and vision systems. This course provides students with the opportunity to gain a range of general skills and knowledge suitable for entry to employment in live performance, theatre and events industries. Fitness

Qualification: SOA SIS30315 Certificate III in Fitness

This course provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a range of activities and functions requiring autonomous work within a defined range of exercise instruction situations and activities. Qualification outcomes may include providing exercise instruction for group, aqua or gym programs. Work may be undertaken in locations such as gyms, fitness facilities, pools and community facilities. Click here to find out more.

Hospitality

Qualification: SIT20316 Certificate II in Hospitality

This course is for students interested in the Hospitality Industry. This course provides opportunities for students to develop relevant technical, vocational and interpersonal competencies suitable for employment and further training in the hospitality industry including employability skills. This industry is suitable for students who have a passion for food and follow through with tasks assigned and have the ability to work in a team. Click here to find out more.

Information and digital technology

Qualification: ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology


Throughout this course, with support from Price Waterhouse Coopers and IBM, students engage in a rigorous academic program with strong links to real world applications. These provide students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in a range of activities and functions in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Industry. Primary industries

Qualification: AHC20116 Certificate II in Agriculture

This qualification provides an entry-level occupational outcome in agriculture. The qualification enables individuals to select a livestock production, cropping or mixed farming enterprise context as an employment and/or training pathway. Job roles may include Assistant Animal Attendant/Stockperson, Assistant Farm Hand or Station Hand, Station Worker or Station Labourer. Click here to find out more.
