Shawnette was First Team All-State in Volleyball during her senior year and Honorable Mention All-State in Volleyball during her junior year. She earned First Team All-MAC honors in Volleyball during her junior and senior years. Shawnette was First Team District 8 as a senior in Volleyball. She was Player of the Year in the Midwest Athletic Conference in Volleyball during her senior year. Shawnette was a member of the Volley ball team that finished as Regional Runners-Up in 1989. She currently holds the school record in Volleyball for aces in a season with 77 and serve reception with 92%.
Shawnette earned three varsity letters in Volleyball, three varsity letters in Basketball, and two Varsity letters in Track. She currently holds the school record in Basketball for most assists in a career with 310 and most assists in a game with 12. Shawnette was a member of the 4 x 200 meter relay team that finished third at the Regional Track Meet.
She attended Southwestern Michigan Junior College for two years where she was named First Team All-American in Volleyball. Shawnette then attended Nicholls State University for three years and was named Honorable Mention All-American in Volleyball.
