There are a variety of ways that students can submit work to an assignment. First, it is important to know that there are three methods that teachers can use to create an assignment.
Assignments that ask students to submit work they've created from scratch.
Assiginments that ask students to edit a personal copy of a Google doc the teacher has provided through Google Drive.
Assignments that ask students to annotate a PDF using Kami
Using the first method, there are several ways for students to submit work in Schoology.
Click on the "Submit Assignment" button in the "Submissions" area to the right of these directions to explore the different ways you can submit work to a Schoology assignment.
Don't see this button? Make sure you aren't logged in as your parent.
After students click on the "Submit Assignment" button they will see a window like the one shown below that allows them to:
Upload a file saved on their device (green)
Submit an audio or video file they create within the Schoology assignment (blue)
Clicking on the create tab allows students to type their response using the text rich toolbar directly within the Schoology assignment. Students can "Save a Draft" and come back to finish at a later time before submitting.
This area allows students to submit a Google Doc that they have created for themself or one that their teacher has asked them to make a copy of and customize.
In the Resources tab, click on Apps listed on the left
Choose the Google Drive Resource App
Search your Drive for the name of the file you want to submit
Select the file
Click the Import button at the top to select "Import File"
If a teacher has used method 2 to set up an assignment, it will create a personal copy of a Google document the teacher has attached and it will have a different appearance than a regular assignment when the student clicks on it.
Student will first see any directions and resources the teacher has provided seen in the format below.
Students click on the "My Document" option to access their personal copy of the Google doc provided by the teacher. The Google doc will open so that they can edit directly within the Schoology platform and changes will be saved as they work. When they are finished, they will click the Submit Assignment button at the top.
Follow these directions to change a browser setting that is causing this issue.
In the Chrome browser, at the top right, click the 3 dots and then Settings.

If a teacher has created an assignment where you need to fill out a pdf document, you will be opening and submitting the assignment using Kami.
In this case, you will see a "Complete Kami Assignment" button when you open your assignment in Schoology.
When you click that button, Kami will open and load the file. The file will be automatically uploaded to your Google Drive, and also shared with the teacher's Google account, so they they can view the work in progress. The folder in Drive will be name "Kami Schoology Assignments".
Note: The first time you use Schoology with Kami, you will be asked to select the Google Drive account for the "Kami Schoology Assignments" folder.
You can come back to Schoology later and click the 'Open Assignment' button again to get the same copy of the file so you can continue your work. You can also open the file with Kami directly from their Google Drive, and continue their work or turn in that way.
Once you have finished your work on the assignment, click the 'Turn In' button at the top right inside Kami.
This will export the document with your changes, return you to Schoology, where you can click 'Submit' to complete the submission.
