How to get to your required points:
- Read one book worth that many points and earn all the points on the test
- Read one book worth more than the required points and miss a few questions
- Read several books and take several tests that get you up to your required points for the marking period
What to read:
- You are welcome to read anything you like; however, I encourage you to read books that are at least 3 points (regular) or 4 points (GHP), as these tend to be interesting enough for 7th grade.
- If you'd like to read a book that's less than 3 points (regular) or 4 points (GHP), just check with me first - I almost always approve them!
- If it looks like you are struggling to find books appropriate for your level, you and I will have a chat to get you on the right track.
But. . . Mrs. Steigerwalt. . . our 6th grade teacher had all sorts of rules about books and what we could and could not read. . . what about things like that?
I don't have any rules like that. Please read what makes you happy. Just follow the 3 (or 4) points/didn't take a test on it before rule and you'll be fine.
Once you know what you're reading, please fill out the form here
What to do after you finish reading:
- Take the test! No need to print it out for me - I can see your point totals on my computer.
- If you have hit your point goal for the marking period with this book, you're good! If not, select another book and read it!

Grading:
1. Did you earn your target points? If you did, you will get a 20/20 in my class. If you don't earn your target points, you'll be graded as follows:
Tests taken average between 71% and 100% - 18 points
Tests taken average between 41% and 70% - 15 points
Tests taken average between 21% and 40% - 10 points
Tests taken average less than 20% - 5 points
Didn't take a test at all - 0 points
If you took a test but did not earn any points, you will receive some credit for your attempt. This means it is always worth it to at least try.
