All students will complete a welding project due by 12/18. While some class time will be given to work on the project it is anticipated that students will also take advantage of study halls, free periods, flex, and time after school to work on the project as needed to meet the deadline.
Assignment:
New Rover students: will complete a 4"x4" steel box (pictures below)
Returning Rover students: will make a wall mounted candle holder; not to exceed dimensions 2 ft. x 2 ft. (photos of ideas are attached)
*Returning rover students may also propose a product for the welding project. Projects must be approved by instructor(s). If materials required for the proposed project exceed what is being supplied students may need to make a contribution towards their project.
Box Project
Students will use three 4" x 4" metal squares to make the box. Two of the squares will be cut in half using either the chop saw or the plasma cutter. Students then need to tack weld (photograph this phase) the box together and then weld all sides and edges. Use a an angle grinder as needed to grind welds and remove sharp edges.
