Yadiel Rivera Colon is currently a student at the Perth Amboy High School. He is in the school's Marching Band, which he plays the trumpet and is the current Brass Section Leader. In addition to the band, he is currently in the school's choir. He is currently in Honors Voice Studio and Advance Concert Choir which he is the current section leader for the tenor voice part; in addition, he is also in the after school ensembles Gospel Choir and Show Choir, which he is also the section leader for the tenors in Show Choir. He has also participated in the 2022 Spring Musical Freaky Friday playing the role of Louis and Parker and in the 2023 Spring Musical Into the Woods as Cinderella's Prince. He was nominated for a Marquee Award for best supporting Male character for his role as Cinderella's Prince. He is also part of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the Science National Honor Society. Apart from the in-school ensembles and after school ensembles, he also helps out at Our Lady of Fatima 9am Choir as the leading guitarist and also sings.
Born into a Puerto Rican family, Yadiel was raised with knowing and liking the culture of Puerto Rico thanks to his mother. The family from his mother side is very vocal and has the talent of singing. With the inspiration his mother and grandfather, Yadiel developed a liking in singing and in playing many latin percussion. Prior from learning how to play the guitar, he learned how to play the congas, bongos, guiro, maracas, and the tambourine. He has played at events in churches and in the community in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. He has also started getting more involved in musical theater. Throughout his life he has had a passion for music and continues to learn more from his family and music teachers at the Perth Amboy High School.
