Kia ora! I’m Mrs. Venketiah—though most of my students know me as Mrs. V. My family and I made the big move from South Africa to beautiful New Zealand, and I’ve been proud to call Papakura High School my teaching home since August 2023. I’ve been in the classroom since 2008, and honestly, teaching is more than just a job for me—it’s my passion.
In the fast-paced world of Digital Technology, things change every day. I believe that being a great teacher means being a lifelong student, and I often find I learn just as much from my students as they do from me! If you bring your heart, your hard work, and a bit of determination, I would be absolutely delighted to welcome you into my class.
I am a qualified goldsmith from Cape Town. I previously lectured in jewellery, sculpture, printmaking, and the history of art. I am passionate about design, creativity, and problem-solving. I particularly enjoy exploring how ideas can be developed through making and experimentation. I also have a strong interest in mathematics and enjoy how logical thinking and precision connect with design and making processes. I am the Teacher in Charge (TiC) for Resistant Materials. I teach woodwork, metalwork, laser cutting, and 3D printing. In addition, I teach Classical Studies and Jewellery Manufacture, which are offered both as an elective subject and a project-based course.
Kia ora,
I am Moritkei Wavu Naivanawalu. I am teaching Resistant Materials here at Papakura High School. I originally taught Technological subjects (Woodwork, Metalwork, and Technical Drawing) in Fiji for 26 years before moving to New Zealand in 2023. I started at Papakura in October 2024. This year (2026), I am excited to be teaching DVC (year 9/10) and Resistant Materials (Years 11/13). I am really looking forward to a successful year of learning with the students
Kia Ora, Namaste, Bula Vinaka!
I am Ronil Raj (Mr. Raj), and I am delighted to be teaching Construction to students from Year 9–13. I’ve recently joined Papakura High School and bring with me 17 years of teaching experience in New Zealand. I began my teaching journey as a Mathematics and Physics teacher, moved into STEM education, and later discovered a strong passion for Construction. Creating a learning environment that is practical, hands-on, and student-centered has always been my priority and gives me great satisfaction. If you are interested in building, design, and creativity, you are welcome to contact me.
