My name is Oscar Ibáñez Panizo. I am currently CEO/CTO at Panacea Cooperative Research and affiliated researcher at the Data Science and Computational Intelligence (DaSCI) Research Institute. I have developed my studies in five different universities and my research career in four laboratories (VARPA-UDC, IMEDIR-UDC; AFE-ECSC, SOCCER-UGR). In addition, I have carried out stays in five other laboratories and short visits to approximately 20 institutions as part of different national and international projects.

As a result of my PhD I received the EUSFLAT Best Ph.D. Thesis Award. This work resulted in an international patent for an automatic forensic identification system (Face2Skull) that was awarded the IFSA Award for Outstanding Applications of Fuzzy Technology in 2011. Other important awards include the IEEE CIS Outstanding CIM Paper Award for the Best Article of the year 2015 from the prestigious Computational Intelligence Magazine and the second Best Ph.D. award "Frances Allen" in 2016, as co-director of one of the three theses I have directed (two more in progress), that of Dr. Campomanes-Álvarez, awarded by CAEPIA. I have obtained prestigious scholarships and contracts with a high competitive character, including the Juan de la Cierva (2014) and Juan de la Cierva-incorporación (2015) scholarships.

My research career focuses in the areas of soft computing and computer vision, and its applications to different scientific disciplines: forensic anthropology, medical imaging, neurology, and port and coastal engineering. I have co-authored 3 patents, two of them licenced and exploited internationally. I have also published 80 scientific articles with 72 researchers from 33 different institutions, including 29 articles from SCI-JCR journals (23 in first-quartile journals). The majority of this research has been developed as part of the team of twenty research projects and contracts at European, national and regional level.

One goal: be the change I want to see in the world
