Curricular Chorale will be an SATB ensemble for the 2026-27 school year, featuring 4-6 singers per voice part. Treble voices (Soprano and Alto) who do not find placement in Chorale may have the opportunity to join the Treble Chorale, which meets after school from 2:45 to 3:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Both ensembles will participate in the annual music department trip in the spring (details and dates TBD).
Auditions for the after-school Treble Chorale will take place in the fall. If you do not earn a spot in curricular Chorale, it is highly recommended that you enroll in Mixed Ensemble to continue developing your vocal skills and musicianship.
For the 2026-27 school year, the Chorale will perform a diverse repertoire, including classical choral staples and a contemporary a cappella three-song set for the spring concert.
Curricular Chorale is a significant commitment. Members are expected to arrive at every rehearsal fully prepared and focused. Students should be able to confidently hold their vocal parts independently, possess strong musicianship skills, and demonstrate comfort performing solo or in small groups, such as quartets, during music checks. It is recommended that Chorale students concurrently enroll in or have previously taken Piano, AP Music Theory, Jazz Mavericks, or Mixed Ensemble.
Auditions will evaluate both attitude and aptitude. In addition to pitch accuracy, intonation, tone quality, rhythm, and diction, your ability to blend and collaborate effectively within the ensemble, as well as your past participation and attitude in music classes, will be considered.
Incoming 9th-12th Grade CPFA Students:
Prepare the entire piece "Petit Rocher", measures 1-20 to be sung a cappella
Choose any vocal part you feel comfortable performing (note: this may not necessarily reflect your final part assignment).
