In April 2017 Alison Harris, Jack Dury, Anne-Marijn Snaaijer, Theis Z. T. Jensen and Anne Kathrine W. Runge attended the U. K. Archaeological Science (UKAS) conference at University College London, U. K.
Alison gave a presentation with the title "Biomolecular Archaeology Study of Prehistoric Populations in Newfoundland and Labrador".
Theis presented a poster, " Species Identification of Mesolithic Bone Revealed by Ancient Proteins."
Anne Kathrine also presented a poster with the title "Identification of Dietary Reads in Complex Metagenomic Samples" outlining some of the challenges related to confidently assigning ancient genomic sequences to the correct taxa using standard similarity search programs.
Radiocarbon and Diet conference
In June 2017, Alison Harris, Madison Holly Llewellin, Özge Demirci, and Jack Dury attended the Radiocarbon and Diet conference in Aarhus, Denmark.
Here Alison presented a poster titled "A Preliminary Study of Aboriginal Palaeodiet on Prince Edward Island, Canada".
Jack also presented a poster, "Dealing with multiple reservoir effects in human skeletal remains from Rounala, northern Sweden".
In July 2017, Anne Kathrine W. Runge presented the outline, research questions, and intended outcomes of her revised project at the poster session associated with the Proteomics Bioinformatics course at EBI/Wellcome Genome in Cambridge, U.K. The poster received a good amount of attention as it was the only ancient proteomics project among the attendees, most of whom worked in medical research and had not previously considered the possibility of extracting and analysing ancient proteins.
EAA Maastricht 2017
The European Association of Archaeologists (EAA) conference took place in Maastricht from 30th August to 3rd September. Here Mariana Muñoz-Rodriguez gave a presentation.
Manon Bondetti went to the European Meeting on Ancient Ceramics (EMAC) in Bordeaux in September 2017. Here she presented a poster, "Understanding the use of early containers at Zamostje 2, Central Russia, through organic residue analysis".
