Polystichum munitum

Description: So the sword fern is really skinny and then 2 inches wide then it like has two little different shades of green and then at spots it has a little bit of dark brown or purpleish in it. It has little pokey edges but it doesn’t hurt when you touch it. The stem is short and stands up straight.

There is a weird color of brown dots through it and some of them have darkish green with little pinches of brown and it’s really shiny. leaves have a lanceolate shape and the edges have very fine teeth

Interesting Facts:
Not edible. It grows straight up in the sun, but when it’s in the shade it will grow more sideways. It relieves pain if you rub it on a little cut. The Native American tribes used the leaves to stuff their mattresses. They also used it for food drying racks. Not edible.
