Program Opportunities At The Intrepid Museum:
All Access Maker Camp is a fun week of exploring the Intrepid Museum, solving problems, experimenting with new tools and technology and designing projects! All Access Maker Camp provides an in-depth learning opportunity for campers to practice social-emotional skills, including problem-solving, communication and collaboration. Campers try out design challenges related to the ship, aircraft and space, and they go behind-the-scenes to meet with experts, like the aircraft restoration team. All staff and interns are specially trained in working with children with disabilities in a museum setting. Visual schedules, illustrated instructions, multi-sensory opportunities and clear expectations will help campers transition into the week and focus on the tasks at hand and having fun. Children will receive instruction on and access to all tools and materials in the camp workshop area, from the tactile (Legos, model magic, tinfoil, paper, etc.) to the digital (littleBits electronics kits, digital design software and 3D printers). The week concludes with a project showcase and party for campers and their families!
When: A child (age 8 to 14 with developmental disabilities, including autism) can participate in only ONE of the sessions.
For first-time participants:
· Spring Session: April 22-26
· Summer Session 1: August 19-23
Cost: $75 for the week (includes all materials and snacks). Lunch and transportation are not provided.
Deadline for Spring is January 27, 2019. Deadline for Summer is April 19, 2019.
Enrollment is by online application. Due to a high number of applications, Museum staff select applicants based on their level of interest in the material, past experience, financial need and the overall dynamic of the group. Please note, the application requires submitting the child’s most recent Individualized Education Program (IEP).
To apply, visit intrepidmuseum.org/education/all-access-maker-camp for links to the application forms (under How to Apply).
We also have programs that take place throughout the year and are free

Families take a guided, interactive tour of the Museum and participate in art-making activities that everyone can enjoy. These programs are free but registration is required.
