Commander Greg Harasymowycz was promoted to the rank of Commander in 2023. He is currently a Patrol Watch Commander responsible for daily Field Operations, the Field Training Program (FTO), Racial Identity and Profiling Act (RIPA) Compliance, District Four (the South District), and the Alarm Ordinance, among other responsibilities. Greg proudly serves as a St. John's Healthy Communities and the Citywide Workplace Violence Prevention Committees member.
Greg started his career with the Oxnard Police Department in 2000. While in the Field Services Bureau, he served as a Patrol Officer and FTO. He was promoted to Senior Officer in 2014 and served as the Beat 11 Coordinator and Field Training Officer before being promoted to Sergeant in 2015.
As a Sergeant, he supervised Patrol Officers and the Field Training Program before being selected as an Internal Affairs investigator in 2017. As an Internal Affairs Investigator, Greg investigated complaints against employees, reviewed policies and procedures, and conducted audits. In 2020, Greg was selected as the Crime Reduction Unit Sergeant. As the Crime Reduction Unit Sergeant, Greg supervised Crime Analysts, the Court Liaison, and the Body Worn Camera (BWC) expert. In 2022, Greg was selected as the Training Sergeant. There, Greg ensured that employees of Oxnard complied with California P.O.S.T. training mandates, legislative mandates, and R.I.P.A. requirements.
He received his Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from California State University at Northridge (CSUN) in 2000 and is a graduate of the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute (Class #458).
