Members are cordially invited to a special evening at Symphony Hall on Saturday, 4 May 2024. The event includes dinner in a private dining room, a lecture by BSO Choral Director James Burton, and the performance of Roméo et Juliette.
The works of William Shakespeare deeply influenced composer Hector Berlioz. As the BSO closes its 2023/2024 season, Music Director Andris Nelsons leads one of the composer’s most successful and vibrant compositions. (Sung in French with English supertitles)
We have reserved blocks of tickets in several sections so members can enjoy the concert together. Please choose your preferred location when registering.
Dinner will include salad or appetizer, a selection of chicken, beef, fish, and vegetarian entrees, dessert, and one glass of wine or beer or a soft drink.

James Burton, Choral Scholar, Composer, Conductor
Born in London, Burton began his training at the Choir of Westminster Abbey, where he became head chorister, and was a choral scholar at St John’s College, Cambridge. He holds a master’s degree in orchestral conducting from the Peabody Conservatory, where he studied with Gustav Meier. From 2002 to 2017 he was music director of the Schola Cantorum of Oxford. Burton has hosted conducting master classes at Tanglewood Music Center and the Royal Academy of Music and founded a scholarship for young conductors at Oxford. His growing composition portfolio includes works commissioned for the National Portrait Gallery and the Choir of St John’s College, Cambridge.
Transportation:
Symphony Hall, 301 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston is easily accessible by public transportation using the Green MBTA line to the Hynes Convention Center stop. The hall is a 10-minute walk south on Massachusetts Avenue. Attendees can also take the Orange Line to the Massachusetts Avenue MBTA stop and walk north one block on Massachusetts Avenue.
Nearby parking is available at the Prudential Center Garage, 800 Boylston Street; Westland Avenue Garage, 35 Westland Avenue; and Gainsborough Garage.
If members park in a garage, we recommend planning for extra time. There are several other cultural events occurring late that afternoon and evening in the Back Bay: the traffic can be heavy with a long queue to enter the garages.
