Course Description: Introductory courses emphasizing four basic skills: aural comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing with consideration of the cultural and historic background of the areas where the language is spoken. Readings are designed to introduce students to Italian culture. The aim is to prepare students to speak and comprehend with some facility and to read various kinds of texts. Course Delivery- Hybrid: The class will be an in-person course with the 4th hour of laboratory delivered asynchronously: students will have on line assignments or activities on the Sentieri platform, like reading comprehension and partner chat, and they will play review games on the Kahoot platform. If there is 50-60% of the students registered for the Italian class requiring remote instruction, I will switch the entire class on Zoom. Language class must be delivered synchronously in-person or online, and the best solution for the majority of students will be chosen.

There will be grammar review, vocabulary building, and a focus on certain structures to strengthen the student's ability and desire to use the oral and written language. There will be readings of various kinds and video in Italian added to supplement the text. Students will continue to explore Italian culture, present and past, through a variety of media. Fall
