Duty to Report

Parents and guardians have a duty to report to the school principal within 24 hours if a student tests positive for COVID-19 or has been quarantined due to COVID-19 exposure. Click HERE to learn more.

Owen County Schools considers in-person learning the most optimal setting for our students. Our goal is to provide the opportunity for students to return to school while keeping the health, safety, and well-being of our school community a top priority.

Please remember that parents and guardians are required by KRS 158.160 to report to the school principal within 24 hours if a student tests positive for COVID-19 or been quarantined due to COVID-19 exposure. We also highly encourage anyone over the age of 12 to get the COVID-19 vaccination. If you or your child have not been vaccinated, we recommend you consult with your health care provider regarding vaccination benefits. Vaccinations are free and available at the Three Rivers District Health Department.

The administrative team is continuing to monitor and keep the board of education members informed as they make the necessary decisions regarding the safety of our students and staff. The possibility of quarantining students and staff may result in interruptions to in-person learning. We ask that you be prepared for possible changes to the school schedule. If changes are necessary, we will contact parents/guardians and students using text, social media, and the district web site. By working together, we can provide our children the education and support they deserve.
