Our Writing Groups for Term Three
Our Writing Groups for Term Two
We had two key focuses in our guided writing groups towards the end of Term One. The first was sentence starters, the second was writing to show, not tell.
Today, you are challenged to write a description of the oldest person you know.
We will discuss what it means when we write to describe, before we begin.
Please wait for the next instructions before you begin.
In the story 'The Tunnel in our Backyard' we learn that the taniwha Te Mokai a Kahu roams in Te Auaunga.
Design a Google Drawing with 2-3 illustrations, a clear title, and 3-4 facts, about the following:
'What are taniwha, and why are they important in Maori culture?'
Many local areas are described in the story - Te Auaunga, Owairaka and Maungakiekie are just some of them!
Choose an area that is special to you. Design a Google Drawing with an appropriate image, and insert yourself into the image using Background Remove.
Write a summary paragraph with some key facts about the area you chose, and why it is so important to you.
Compare and contrast the similarities and differences between how Maori traditionally used Te Auaunga, and how it is used today.
Demonstrate your findings in a Venn Diagram.
