Effective procurement is a strategic function, not just a purchasing activity. Poorly managed purchasing can lead to wasted funds, poor-quality goods, and non-compliance with regulations. By the end of this session, you will be able to coordinate procurement activities that:

• Secure Better Value: Learn to identify and evaluate suppliers to ensure the trust gets the best possible deal.

• Ensure Compliance: Understand key public sector procurement principles and regulations, including the Procurement Act 2023.

• Reduce Risk: Establish a clear, auditable process that protects the trust from financial and legal risks.

The session will provide attendees with:

• An understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead

• Information and source documentation for the legislative and good practice requirements for safeguarding children

• Clarity around what safeguarding arrangements should be in place to keep children safe

• An understanding of what to do if safeguarding concerns are raised and how to support staff to recognise these

• An opportunity to reflect on current practice and make changes to better safeguard children and young people

Training is valid for two years.

• This session will cover the key knowledge and practicalities for clerking GDC meetings, whether exclusion or suspension reviews. It will go through the entire process but with focus on the GDC elements and the practicalities around panels, evidence, adjournments and your role. We will also cover reconsideration of decisions after an IRP, and the arrangements, decisions and impact of those so you are best placed to advise your panels.

• Checking for understanding and addressing misconceptions through live monitoring and a stress free culture where mistakes are part of the learning process as well as ensuring students produce clear effective SRT in their books, actively acting upon the targets given to them and producing clearly visible improved work in their books.

This session is designed to enable leaders to carry out effective investigations that will enable the Principal to reach accurate decisions.  As part of the session, we will explore the legal process of suspensions and permanent exclusions.  Information regarding how a Pupil Disciplinary Panel (permanent exclusion hearing) and Independent Review Panel (IRP) is conducted will be explored, with an emphasis on the challenge leaders will face during this process.
