Future Professional Development Opportunities
The OIE continually develops its professional development offer, including opportunities available through partners organisations. Please use the adjacent form to express an interest in a future professional development opportunity. More information will be sent to you, as it becomes available.
National Professional Qualifications (NPQs)
Through the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT), colleagues have access to the full suite of school-led, research informed NPQ programmes. To find out more about each programme, please follow the adjacent link.
The programmes have been developed in collaboration with schools and are built on leading research, while remaining grounded in best practice. It is expected that NPQ graduates will go on to work together long after their course ends to develop and transform both their own local provision, and the wider educational landscape.
New NPQ cohorts commence annually in April and October. Complete the EOI form above to register your interest in a future cohort. Please note, all requests to complete an NPQ will require the support and approval of your line manager/Principal and Executive.
Reasons to study an NPQ:
Research-informed practice - enrich your knowledge and understanding of educational research
Essential knowledge - a well-sequenced curriculum ensures you will learn exactly what is needed
Shape the discourse - share your ideas, share your practice and influence the movement to improving education for all children
Transferable skills - develop skills that all the colleagues and children you encounter in the future will benefit from
Community of educators - collaborate with like-minded individuals to support your development long after the programme ends
Fulfilment - enjoy learning again, and see the improvements to your own and others’ practice through our programmes
Why study with the NIoT?
Programmes are school-led: they are delivered by individuals who work in schools, right now. That means they have the in-depth, domain-specific knowledge to help you grapple with content at the right level, and to support you to problem-solve and apply learning to your own context.
Programmes are centred on impact: the aim is for your practice to improve and develop in your current context, and for you to be ready and to take the next step in your career as a result of learning with the NIoT.
Programmes are carefully designed, and work closely with school leaders, as well as working with participants, to ensure our programmes are impactful in your context.
Programmes are respectful of your time: we know you spend most of your time doing the most important job there is – serving the children in your community. That’s why programmes are designed to be flexible, to deliver exactly what you need in the most time-efficient manner possible.
Next Generation Leadership Programmes
We are committed to developing capacity in advance of need and will achieve this through our new leadership development programmes. Research-informed and centred around our leadership framework, the programmes will be tailored to all layers of leadership, for both teaching and support colleagues.
Complete the EOI form above and we'll share more information with you as soon as we can.
Women Into Leadership
Designed and delivered by Julie Slater, this unique programme is aimed at current and aspiring female leaders, exploring what makes a successful leader and how to overcome any barriers they may face on their journey. Julie, together with Cara Ackroyd, Executive Principal, and Carolyn Blundell, Associate Executive Principal, will each share their own journeys into senior/executive leadership.
The programme is open to all female teaching and support staff colleagues actively considering their next step into leadership or headship, and complements the leadership NPQs.
Watch Julie and past delegates talk about how this programme has helped to develop them as leaders.
Register your interest for a future cohort by completing the EOI form above.
