Prevent sits alongside long-established safeguarding duties on professionals to protect people from a range of harms and is one part of the government's overall counter-terrorism strategy. Its aim is to:

• tackle the ideological causes of terrorism 

• intervene early to support people susceptible to radicalisation 

• enable people who have already engaged in terrorism to disengage and rehabilitate

All staff working in education, a sector covered by the Prevent Duty, must have an awareness of Prevent. For roles with higher level safeguarding responsibilities (ie. governors, senior leaders, DSLs and DDSLs), staff must complete more in-depth training.

• The Deep Support meeting is held to give leaders an opportunity to share good practice and to receive developments that are ongoing across the Trust.

• The training will provide support to identified staff and includes: How to set up staff permissions; support the administration in additional fields and templates; identification of provision types; identification of funding streams and staff costings; how to create and review a SEND Support Plan; how to create an EHCP application and review banner; general administration; support SEND Code of Practice (2015) compliance.
