Nathan "Chewy" Bliss' Scholarship Fund & Legacy...
Sometimes the most unexpected gifts and connections come from the most painful experiences. As many of you know, our dear friend and co-instructor, Nathan Bliss, unexpectedly passed in late April of 2017. The loss has been difficult. In addition to being a generous, beautiful soul, Nathan was a tremendous outdoor educator with a hilarious sense of humor and a huge heart for the youth he served. He was known for digging deep and giving it his all to ensure that students received the best from him. Nate had a powerful impact. At services and celebrations, we met people and heard story after story from across the decades of his life, affirming our experiences of his special qualities.
To carry on his legacy, and as a result of the spirit and life energy of Nathan, the Bliss Family created the nonprofit "Expedition. Life." Through Nate’s touch, life, and unique being, he effectively united a group of people that may not have otherwise crossed paths. Now joined together as one team ready to change the world for the better.
A powerful partnership between Expedition. Life. and Outside Perspectives will continue Nate's work and grow his vision of making the great impact of outdoor experiences available to the many youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity.
While we would trade it all to have Nate and his crazy antics back Earthside, we are grateful for the gifts he left behind for us. Unexpected joys in the deep loss....
We love and miss you deeply Nate. We will work to carry your spirit on through our work. Hike on dear friend. Hike on. We will see you again at the mountain top.
