Students have firsthand experiences with two closely related animal--pill bugs and sow bugs, two examples of the phenomena called isopods. Through observation and discussion, students gather information about isopod structures and behaviors and how those characteristics relate to the needs of the animals.

Different kinds of isopods have some structures and behaviors that are the same and some that are different.
