Pupils in Music work in the areas of Performing, Composing and Understanding Music.
In S1, pupils receive tasters on a range of classroom instruments including, keyboard, tuned percussion, drumkit, guitar / ukuele, bass guitar. They have the opportunity to create and write their own music as well as exploring music and music technology in a broader sense. Check out their page below
In second year, pupils begin to specialise on two specific instruments and challenge themselves on new music. They have the opportunity to explore new types of music found in 20th Century through the Planets Suite. Using Pro Tools and Garage band, S2 will create their own piece of apace music and learn new musical concepts. Click the button below to see more.
In third year, you are pushed even harder to get to National 4 or even 5 on your instruments. You will explore how music works in the modern day and how it is used in the media. You will learn more music concepts and discover how to use music technology to enhance your compositions. Have been learning about the orchestra and had an opportunity to see, hear and play some brass instruments!
Our Cello instructor (Mr P) gave our S1's a demo on cello. He talked to them about how string instruments work and gain a few new pupils!
Scary Music. Some S1's had a go at writing some new music for Halloween. First they wrote and read out their "scary scene".
