Kia ora koutou, and welcome to the Year 3–4 classroom at Te Waipuna – nau mai, haere mai.
My name is Tori Maheno. I am a mother of four tamariki – three sons and one daughter. We love being outdoors, spending time with animals, and travelling. My mother is from Pamapuria (Kaitaia), and my father is from Mangapehi (Waikato). My tamariki and I live in Ahipara.
I am so excited to be teaching the Year 3–4 class at Te Waipuna this year. I feel privileged to work alongside you and your tamariki as we begin this wonderful learning journey together. As a new teacher, I bring enthusiasm, dedication, and a passion for creating a positive and supportive classroom environment. I value open communication and look forward to building strong partnerships with whānau to help every child thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
This year, our focus will be on exploring, creating, and growing together as a class. I'm eager to celebrate the unique strengths and talents of every tamaiti. We’re also very fortunate to have our amazing Teacher Aide, Whaea Shelly, supporting and caring for our tamariki every day. In addition, we have a warm and experienced teacher who will be in class each Monday and alternate Tuesdays, providing consistency and quality learning while I am released.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns – I’m here to support you and your tamariki every step of the way.
