2019 Outaouais NorAm

The NorAm Cup is coming to the OutaouAis region!

Club Mont Ste Marie and Équipe de Ski Camp Fortune will be hosting the NorAm Ski Series Jan 3-7. These races will be featuring some of the top male athletes from around the world including the Canadian, US and European national teams. These athletes will be battling for the overall NorAm title and a spot on the World Cup circuit. This is the highest level of alpine ski racing in North America next to the World Cup.

The stakes are high - athletes are battling for points that will help them win the overall NorAm title and spot on the World Cup circuit next season. Three different events will be taking place in the Outaouais region over the course of five days: Slalom, Giant Slalom and Panelled Slalom.

Watching some of the world's best athletes compete at an international level will be inspiring will be inspiring for young athletes and students on their school break. They can ski themselves as they watch the races at two ski hills, which are close in proximity to Ottawa and Gatineau.

What is a Parallel Slalom?

The new parallel event is exciting to watch - on a short slalom course two racers go head to head down the hill at the same time. Only the top 32 ranked competitors after a morning single qualifying run get to compete in the afternoon. The parallel slalom event will take place directly in front of the main chalet at Mont Ste Marie, where ski enthusiasts can watch the top skiers battle it out. This is the first time this dual event has ever been part of the NorAm Cup series, and it is the newest addition to the World Cup circuit and the Winter Olympic Games.

"This is a great opportunity to watch world class athletes compete in an event that is exciting and new to the Winter Olympics. These racers are the next generation and the athletes of the future, start following them now!"

- Julie Klotz, Alpine Director at Club Mont Ste Marie
