Power Electronics and Drives, Multilevel Inverters, Pulse Width Modulation Techniques, Special Electrical Machines, Renewable Energy Sources, Hybrid Power Systems, DC Micro Grid, Power Quality and Green Hydrogen.
Professor Satish Kumar Peddapelli is a dedicated University Professor and Head of Electrical Engineering, University College of Engineering, Osmania University with a proven track record in delivering exceptional education at both Undergraduate and post graduate levels. Known for innovative teaching methods, fostering critical thinking and achieving consistently positive student evaluations. Hoping to provide leverage diligence and professionalism to make a difference in research and Electrical Engineering, is a prolific researcher with numerous publications in repute journals, patents, text books, collaborative research with Sri-Lanka and Slovenia contributing to the academic and research advancement of the field. He is the Former Director, RGUKT Basar (IIIT Basar) and actively committed in the University service at various administrative assignments, demonstrating comprehensive approach to academia.
Prof. Satish Kumar has completed his B.Tech in EEE from JNTU, obtained his M.Tech. in Power Electronics from JNTUH and his Doctorate in the area of Multilevel Inverters from JNTUH. His areas of interestsare Power Electronics, Drives, Multi-level Inverters, Special Machines and Renewable Energy Systems. He is the Fellow of Institute of Engineers India, Senior Member IEEE, Fellow of Telangana Academy of Science, Life Member ISTE and Life Member System Society of India. He is an active member of many professional bodies and an Editorial member of various International Journals and reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, IEEE Access Journal, International Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, International Journal of Ambient Energy, and IETE Journal of Research etc.
Prof. Satish Kumar has many research projects inniche areas to his credit, to name India- Slovenia Joint Research Project (On-Going), Indo-Sri Lanka Joint Research Project, UGC- Major Research Project, SERB(DST)- Research Project and TSCOST- Major Research Project, which are completed. The outcome of these projects are four Patents granted on ‘Novel Interline Unified Power Quality (IUPQC) for Multi-Feeder Systems with Four Converters' and ‘Implementation of SVPWM Techniques to A Multilevel Inverter’, Australian Innovation Patent granted on ‘Machine Learning Based Fish Monitoring Machine and Method Thereof’, Indian Design Patent granted on ‘Smart Self Disinfecting Face Shield’ and one more patent was published on ‘Asymmetrical Cascaded H-Bridge Multilevel Inverter with Reduced Power Switches’.
With more than 29 years ofteaching and research experience eleven researchscholars were awarded their PhD degrees under his supervision. He established ‘Research Lab for Multilevel Inverters’ in the Departmentof Electrical Engineering,Osmania University and research scholars actively utilizing this lab. he is guiding eight PhD scholars in the area of Power Electronics at present. He designed and developed ‘DC House Prototype to Promote the Use of Renewable Energy for Rural Electrification’, a prototype of ‘Three Phase Eleven-Level Cascaded H-bridge Inverter’, ‘Three Phase Seven-Level Neutral Point Clamped Inverter’ and ‘Asymmetrical Cascaded H-bridge 7-Level Inverter with Reduced Power Switches’ in the Research Lab for Multilevel Inverters, UCE, OU.
He has published more than130 papers in International Journals and presented 43 papers in International Conferences. He has received a “Certificate of Merit” for his research paper which was presented in an International Conference at University of California, USA. He delivered Keynote address in International conferences held at Singapore and Paris. He has authored five text books entitled “Pulse Width Modulation -Analysis and Performance in Multilevel Inverters”, a text book entitled “Electrical Machines–A Practical Approach”, De-Gruyter Oldenbourg Publisher,Germany, a textbook “Computer Methods in Power Systems-Analysis with MATLAB and one edited book “Wind and Solar Energy Applications–Technological Challenges and Advances” CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group.
He received the “Rajarambapu Patil National Award-2024” from Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), New Delhi.
He received the“BestTeacher Award” from the State Government of Telangana on 5th September 2014.
He received the “Engineerof the YearAward-2022” from the Institute of Engineers India (IEI) on 15th Sept. 2022.
He received the “Award for Research Excellence” in the year 2014.
He received the “Global Teacher Role Model Award in the year 2015.
He also received the “Fast Track Scheme for Young Scientist Award” from SERB in 2013.
He received Four Certificates of Appreciation under the ‘Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Award 2022’ for his Research Excellence.
He received “Certificate of Excellence” for the presentation of research paper in the International Conference ICEEME-2018, Bhopal, India.
He has served as Director, Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies Basar (RGUKT Basar - IIIT Basar) during 2022-2024 and in the Osmania University as Chairman, Board of Studies, OU, Additional Controller of Examinations (Confidential), Joint Director of Evaluation, Coordinator, NBA, UCE, Faculty Advisor, Hostel Warden, Regional Coordinator – PGECET (2012, 2013 and 2014) etc.
He delivered more than 100 expert lectures in reputed organizations like Academic Staff College, Universities, Engineering Staff College of India, National Institute of Science and Technology, Engineering Colleges, Research Institutes and various Organizations.
He visited USA, Paris, Switzerland, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Japan, Slovenia and Austria to present research papers in International Conferences, to deliver keynote addresses, expert talks and to engage in collaborative research.
