My name is Victor Vega and I am the School Based Resource Teacher at Laurel Elementary School. I received my BA in Spanish and Linguistics from San Diego State University in 1992. I earned my teaching credential from California State University San Marcos and began my teaching career in 1995. I have taught every grade in elementary school. My favorite subject to teach is reading. In 1997 I earned my masters in language and literacy education, again at CSUSM. One of the highlights of my career was teaching as a Distinguished Teacher in Residence at CSUSM. I strongly believe in PUBLIC schools and the excellent and creative work that teachers do every day. I believe students are resourceful, resilient and always learning. I believe that the aim of education is democracy and liberation. Laurel Elementary is the best laboratory for experiential, social and liberating learning!

When I am not teaching I like surfing, yoga and going to the gym. I like to go camping and hiking with my family. I love the mountains and the beach. I have 3 children: Ari in college, Adan in high school, and Anahí in middle school.

My greatest passion is teaching so ALL students have an equal chance to reach their hopes, dreams and aspirations. I am so confident in the Laurel community and their incredible faith in their children. I am especially proud to be associated with such a great teaching staff and serving the Laurel community.

Thanks for visiting my web page. I will continue to add resources for parents, teachers and students that will help us work together to achieve success and equity for all students.
