Number of individuals with AIDS:
In 2019, there were approximately 38 million people in the world with HIV/AIDS. 36.2 million were adults, and 1.8 million were children.
New infections:
An estimate of over 1.7 million people acquired AIDS in 2019. That makes it a 23% decline of new infections since 2010!
Testing:
Roughly 81% of people with HIV/AIDS knew their personal HIV status back in 2019. 19% still needed the access to HIV testing.
HIV/AIDS related deaths:
Deaths in relation to AIDS have reduced by 60% since the last peak in 2004, around 2019- roughly 700,000 people around the world died from AIDS. Nearly 1.1 million people died from it in 2010.
Treatment access:
By the end of 2019 there were around 25.4 million people with HIV who could access ART around the world. That being said, 12.6 million people were still waiting for their treatment.
