Sharing information online

Don’t post your birthday - do not include your birthday in your profile information. Doing so makes it easier for people to hack your accounts or find more information about you online.

Don’t share your location - turn off location sharing features that show people where you’re posting from, and change your privacy setting to prevent others from tagging your location. Also don’t mention where you are in an update. On vacation? Wait until you get home to share your experience and pictures, in order to prevent making your home a target for burglars.

Do restrict who can see your information - use Facebook lists and restrict Twitter feeds to limit access to your information

Students younger than 13 years old

By law, students who are younger than 13 may not create accounts on social networks, including Facebook and Twitter.
