Sail Boat Racing At Orleans Yacht Club
History and overview of racing at OYC (Sid/Lydia please fill in).
OYC Program Organization – Today the Sunday Racing Program has expanded. We have two racing fleets at OYC. Our Sunday Racing program accommodates sailors at all levels that are interested in the sport of sailboat racing. We currently have two fleets that compete over nine Sunday afternoons each summer. The first is Fleet 15, part of the O’Day Day Sailer class association. This is a well-established group that has raced at OYC since ??. Our second fleet, Fleet Precision, is a newer group that sail Precision 15s, owned by the club.
Sailors, for more information including the Notice of Race (NOR) and registration information please click Here.
Our racing program is the result of racers and volunteers that enjoy on-the-water activities and support the importance of sailboat racing as a part of OYC. Two groups are part of this activity: the racers; and the volunteers that are part of the race management team.
In addition to Sunday Racing OYC sponsors an annual Invitational Regatta for the Day Sailers (held in mid July), and The Yankee Duo, a Regatta (actually, two) for SunFish sailors (held in September).
Our racing program runs on the enthusiastic support of volunteers who come out on Sundays and handle the Committee Boat duties and the two safety boats.
