5 Hours of documented community service completed prior to NJHS Application 10-15 additional hours will be completed throughout the year.
Achieve a cumulative grade of 3 or higher overall among all subjects and trimester grades for academics and behavior.
Attain a grade of 2 or above for individual classes each trimester.
Respect: Office disciplinary actions will be subject for review and progressive measure.
Responsibility: No more than 5 unexcused tardies over the course of the school year.
Applicants will submit digital portfolios, including essays and presentations, using District 135 platform options and submitting in NJHS Google Classroom.
Prepare a typed personal essay indicating your desire to become an NJHS member focusing on the five aspects of NJHS: Character, Citizenship, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. Be sure to reflect on personal attributes that make you an ideal candidate for membership.
It is the students responsibility to respectfully ask TWO content teachers to complete the NJHS reference form on their behalf. Reference forms require teachers to comment on a student's character in the classroom.
Participants are encouraged to participate in at least ONE, club, activity, or sport offered by the school or community.
Attend NJHS meetings regularly and participate in activities sponsored by NJHS.
