About Ms. Robinson

Janet Robinson biography

Janet Robinson is thrilled to be teaching art in the Orinda Union School District, and to be back in the Bay Area where she grew up.

Janet has an AA degree in art, a BA from UC Berkeley, a Master’s Degree in City Planning from Cornell University, and a teaching credential from Cal State San Marcos.

Her deep interest in art history inspired Janet to become a docent at the San Diego Museum of Art for two years where she led tours and taught children’s classes, and visited schools in the student outreach program. Janet also taught art and ran the volunteer art program for 10 years at her daughters’ school in North County San Diego. When she and her husband moved to Truckee two years ago, Janet brought art to the public elementary schools in the Tahoe Truckee Union School District through a non-profit organization (Arts For The Schools). In that job, she carried all her art materials in the back of her car and drove from her home in Truckee to Lake Tahoe and over Donner Pass to get to work! She finds her current commute much easier.

Janet loves to share her passion for art and art history with students. She aims to help her students find confidence and joy in making art.

Janet enjoys drawing and painting, reading, hiking, skiing and travel. She is married to Rob and has two daughters who both graduated from Cal (Go Bears!) and who now live and work in San Francisco.
