Thanksgiving Facts

Thanksgiving 2018 is on November 22. Thanksgiving is a holiday with a holiday feast which was first celebrated back in 1621.
The US states of Maine, Florida, Virginia, and Texas are the states where the first Thanksgiving took place.
Native People of North America held events and ceremonies, thankful for being able to harvest food, or another reason, the birth of a new child.
When the Pilgrims and the Puritans arrived to America, they brought new Thanksgiving traditions to Americans.
Thanksgiving has been a national holiday (in multiple countries) ever since the Continental Congress proclaimed the first Thanksgiving in 1777.
On Thanksgiving, we eat amazing food such as turkey and pumpkin pie because of the fall harvests in New England.
For the Wampanoags, giving thanks to the Creator has been part of their daily life.
On the Thanksgiving weekend, 10,000,000+ people go on a flight; and 40,000,000 people drive 100+ miles to have dinner with their families.

Thanksgiving DIYS

Thanksgiving is a holiday where family comes together and eat a lovely dinner with a lot of food. Decorating your house, making crafts, and playing games will make an exciting event that is more than just eating a fancy dinner for a night.
Here are some Thanksgiving DIY games like "roll a turkey". All you need is one dice, cut out different colored sheets of paper, and cut out the body, feathers, eyes, beak, snood, and feet. Then you get one dice and 1 for body, 2 for feathers, 3 for eyes, 4 for beak, 5 for snood, and 6 for feet. Another DIY game is "tic - tac - turkey", you cut out squares of brown and yellow paper ( 6+ of each color) the brown will be turkeys and the yellow will be trees. You can make a mini thanksgiving monopoly by using materials in your house (made by our minds).
Now it's time for the Kid Table DIYs. If your kids love to draw at the kids' table then you can put crayons in jar(s) and there are many ways to put them in. You can put them in the same color with the different shades or put the cool and hot colors of the rainbow, and put the colors that are not in the rainbow in a different jar. You can make the jars look like turkeys and hats. If you want to make a turkey for the kids than give them this, a paper bag turkey. Using paper bags and a balloon. Blow into the balloon cover it with paper bags and leave a space to pop the balloon. Then do the same for the turkey legs. You can fill the turkey with a special treat or just fill it with paper bags.
S.T.E.A.M. Day Challenge
Welcome to the D.I.Y Dash where DIYs will be included in most of the newsletters. You may or may not believe it, but in November there is a national day called S.T.E.A.M/S.T.E.M day. This holiday is on Nov. 8. For this holiday we're are going to include an idea for teachers and students to do for a S.T.E.A.M. challenge. Since S.T.E.A.M. day is in this month, maybe you should donate to some S.T.E.A.M. programs. You can donate supplies,in example, markers, pencils, or rulers. It can be a big help however big or small it is. The following will be an idea for this day.
To participate you need to use recycled items from your home or from the S.T.E.A.M. Lab.

Here are a couple of charities you can donate to: Two Bit Circus Foundation or Help A Classroom. On DonorsChoose.org you will be able to donate to a selection of classes or organizations.
If you choose to participate in this event, you will have to make something that will represent the image of a turkey with recycled objects. If you choose to participate, please message Mrs. Campbell (4/5) a photo of an image of a turkey. The winner will be included in the next Palmyra Paper.
❤️National World Kindness Day ❤

Want to know what World kindness day is? Well we celebrate this holiday on November 13, 2018. Being kind is very important and everyone should be kind. Also a part of being kind is not being a bully.
HISTORY: The first world kindness day was made on November 13, 1998. Also the purpose of World Kindness day is to do good deeds to the world and the community, so do good deeds . It spread to the amount of 29 countries.
Kind Things that you can do for someone:
1. If you see someone sad or alone help them and make them feel better.
2. Help someone in need.
3. Send a thank you note
4. donate things that you don't need anymore.
But the most important thing that you need to do is.... TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED. If you are kind to people they may also be kind to you!

Why it started

Lots of Mexican families celebrate Dia de los Muertos aka The day of the Dead. Some people may not know why it started so I am going to tell you why it did. It actually was started by the Aztecs about 3,000 years ago. Wow, this is an old holiday... I thought it was just sixty-two years old! The Mexicans looked at the ritual and decided to also partake in the ritual.
Why it's important

The Day of the Dead is important because they love their loved ones and want to honor their death. They pray for their deceased ones. They pray for their loved ones at night. That's why day of the dead is important.
Tradition

One of the biggest traditions in Mexico is Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) on that very important day the Mexican culture go to the tumbas (tombs) and clean them to get ready for them to come back to the mordle world. They light candles and decorate their house and tumbas with orange flowers.
