Teaching Philosophy/Motto

"Look back over the past, with its changing empires that rose and fell, and you can foresee the future, too." -Marcus Aurelius

Many ask "Why Latin?" The answer for me is somewhat simple-it is a window into the world from which we come. Much of our world today- our language, our governemnt, our basis for modern civilization- stems from the Romans. Reg said it quite nicely in The Life of Brian- "All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?" I aim to instill this knowledge and (hopefully) appreciation in my students by teaching about the language, culture, and history of the Ancient Romans. I believe that every student can learn as long as they put forth the effort needed to do so. I expect effort not perfection.
