AP Economics (Grade 11-12) 1 Credit
Prerequisite: Honors American Century or AP US History. Consists of 1 semester of micro and 1 semester of macro; students will take both AP exams. The purpose of the AP course in microeconomics is to give students a thorough understanding of the principles of economics that apply to the functions of individual decision makers, both consumers and producers, within the economic system. It places primary emphasis on the nature and functions of product markets and includes the study of factor markets and of the role of government in promoting greater efficiency and equity in the economy. The AP macroeconomics course emphasizes principles of economics as they apply to a total economic system. This course places particular emphasis on national income, price determination, measurement of economic performance, economic growth, and international economics. Please note that students will be expected to purchase supplemental materials.
