Honors Environmental Science 1 credit
Prerequisite: Chemistry
Environmental science is an advanced science level course, which satisfies the Ohio Core science graduation requirements. Environmental science incorporates biology, chemistry, physics and physical geology and introduces students to key concepts, principles and theories within environmental science. Investigations are used to understand and explain the behavior of nature in a variety of inquiry and design scenarios that incorporate scientific reasoning, analysis, communication skills and real-world applications. The course will provide students with an understanding of the interrelationship of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them.
AP Environmental Science 1 credit
Prerequisite: Honors Chemistry and Algebra II
The AP Environmental Science Course is designed to be the equivalent of a one semester, introductory college course in environmental science. The course is to provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them. Students will be expected to purchase supplemental materials.
