Forensics ½ credit
Prerequisite: Chemical Science or Chemistry
This course focus will be on problem solving skills. Students will be expected to work in teams, design experiments, research forensic methodologies, synthesize information, and make conclusions based on their own empirical evidence. The class is designed around authentic performance assessments with students working in teams to solve problems using scientific knowledge and reasoning. It involves all areas of science including biology, anatomy, chemistry, physics, and earth science with an emphasis in complex reasoning and critical thinking. In addition, students must incorporate the use of technology, communication skills, language arts, art, mathematics, and physics. Students will be asked to read, write, and work effectively in groups and then to present reports/case studies to an audience. Class participation, cooperation, and self-motivation are key to success in this class.
