English III (Grade 11) 1 Credit

Prerequisite: English II

English III College Preparatory emphasizes the high points of American literature with an in-depth study of several significant novels, essays, poems and plays. Current nonfiction articles will be read to make connections between the past and present. Composition instruction includes a focus on analysis of literature, multiple paragraph structures, individual style, the writer’s voice, and creativity. During second semester a research paper is completed. Work on grammar, vocabulary, and independent reading will continue.
